About This Page

A Record of Expertise
in Sanctions Law

Mohsen Farshneshani is the founder and principal attorney at Sanctions Law Center, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm dedicated exclusively to U.S. economic sanctions law. His work focuses on OFAC licensing, SDN list removal, voluntary self-disclosures, unblocking applications, and sanctions compliance counseling.

Beyond his legal practice, Mohsen is a sanctions advisor with DAWN, where he works on the organization's sanctions nomination initiative — preparing and submitting designations to the U.S. government targeting individuals and entities involved in human rights abuses. His advocacy in this space grew out of years spent working on U.S.–Iran trade diplomacy during the JCPOA negotiations, where he saw firsthand how sanctions can serve as tools of both coercion and accountability. Today, he focuses on advancing the use of targeted sanctions to hold those responsible for the most serious abuses accountable under U.S. law.

This page collects his published legal analysis, media commentary, and contributions to public understanding of a field that affects businesses, financial institutions, individuals, and governments around the world.
