Mohsen Farshneshani is the founder and principal attorney at Sanctions Law Center, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm dedicated exclusively to U.S. economic sanctions law. His work focuses on OFAC licensing, SDN list matters, voluntary self-disclosures, sanctions advocacy, unblocking applications, and sanctions compliance counseling.
Beyond his legal practice, Mohsen is an advisor with DAWN, where he formerly led the organization's sanctions nomination initiative — preparing and submitting designation recommendations to the U.S. government. His advocacy in this space grew out of years spent working on U.S.–Iran trade diplomacy during the JCPOA negotiations, where he saw first hand how sanctions can serve as tools of both coercion and accountability. Today, the Sanctions Law Center supports civil society in deploying targeted sanctions to hold perpetrators of serious abuses accountable.
This page collects his published legal analysis, media commentary, and contributions to public understanding of a field that affects businesses, financial institutions, individuals, and governments around the world.
